A website launched in January 2008 has already helped nearly a quarter of a million individuals search online for their forgotten funds. Mylostaccount.org.uk helps guide you through some simple steps to help reunite you with your money.

The site brings together the three existing account search schemes from the British Bankers Association (BBA), the Building Societies Association (BSA) and National Savings and Investments (NS&I) and involves submitting search forms for money left unclaimed in dormant bank, building society and NS&I accounts.

According to reports, the website averages 680 claims per day as savers become more aware of the easy way of checking whether any of the estimated £850 million lying in dormant accounts is rightfully theirs.

mylostaccount.org.uk is designed to make searching for lost accounts easier than ever as it is a one-stop shop for BBA, BSA & NS&I’s search and trace services.
